David Frye, a comedian known for his impression of President Richard M. Nixon, died at the age of 77 in Las Vegas. The New York Times reports that he died of cardiopulmonary arrest.
He gained his national fame in the late 60’s and early 70’s with his political impressions. During the Nixon administration is when he really gained popularity. He was on television regularly and headlined at clubs.
He recorded four comedy albums in the early 70’s, all with Nixon referenced in the title. For example his 1970 album was entitled I Am the President and his 1973 album was Richard Nixon: A Fantasy.
Frye told Esquire magazine in 1971, “I do Nixon not by copying his real actions but by feeling his attitude, which is that he cannot believe that he really is president.”

Commonwealth Ports Authority has created a payment plan that would help the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino finally settle its volunteer responsibility, but the company has yet to respond to the agency's offer.
Edward Deleon Guerrero (Executive Director) told Saipan Tribune yesterday that the CPA board recently affirmed its decision to collect in full the $310,000 Tinian Dynasty owes the agency.
Deleon Guerrero said yesterday, “There will be no write-off or forgiveness of any kind because we have a bond indenture to satisfy. CPA has already proposed payment plans to the company but it has yet to make a decision. Negotiation on the payment plan is ongoing between CPA and Tinian Dynasty.” He refused to luxuriant on the details of the payment options, but assured that this will give Tinian Dynasty some “flexibility.”
“We look at the capability of the company to pay. .We will not establish a payment plan that is unrealistic.”
The $310,000 responsibility was the result of an unrealized settlement agreement between CPA and Tinian Dynasty's shipping arm, the Tinian Shipping & Transportation Inc. The ports authority had sued the shipping company for breach of contract relating to its failure to pay passenger fees as required in their June 2006 lease agreement. Citing financial challenges, Tinian Dynasty had asked the ports authority to write-off the total responsibility with a one-time $100,000 payment. It wants to settle this obligation to attract potential investors who plan to revive the operation of the Tinian ferry service just as soon as Tinian Shipping's “books” are cleared of this debt.
Tinian Shipping's ferry service between Saipan and Tinian was suspended in March 2009 because its vessels needed repair as well as comply with the American Bureau of Shipping's regulations. This resulted in Tinian residents and tourists relying exclusively on air transportation to travel to and from Tinian.
Tinian Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz had earlier appealed to the CPA board to write off the $310,000 debt, saying that Tinian Dynasty has been the sole casino operator on island for more than 13 years and that it continues to render funds.

Erionite is a mineral that occurs naturally and is often found in volcanic ash that has been neutered by weathering and ground water. Erionite forms toffy, wool-like fibrous masses in the hollows of rock formations. Its color varies from white to clear, and it looks like transparent, glass-like fibers.
With similar properties to asbestos, erionite may pose health risks to those who breathe in the fibers. Erionite exposure has been associated with an unprecedented mesothelioma incidence in some Turkish villages in Cappadocia, and it has been widely believed that exposure to erionite was limited to that part of the world.
Erionite deposits are present in several parts of the U.S., including California, Oregon, North Dakota, South Dakota, Arizona and Nevada. In North Dakota in specific, researchers have found that more than 300 miles of roads were paved with erionite-polluted crushed rock over the last 30 years. According to this study, funded through NCI PO-1 "Pathogenesis of Mesothelioma" and a AACR Landon Innovator Award for International Cancer Research, international researchers from the U.S., Italy and Turkey sought to examine the strength health risks for those exposed to erionite by comparing air samples, microchemistry, tissue samples and other data from North Dakota with those found in affected parts of Turkey.
"Basic results of our study and considering the known reaction time, period for lung disease, there is fright for increased risk of mesothelioma for exposed residents in North Dakota," Michele Carbone, M.D., Ph.D., lead author of the study and director of thoracic oncology at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center in Honolulu, said. "Precautionary measures should be undertaken to reduce exposure of erionite that is occurring in North Dakota and may be occurring in other areas of the U.S. where large deposits of erionite are present if disturbed. Our findings provide an opportunity to follow out novel prophylactic and early sensing programs in the U.S., similar to what has been done in Turkey."
The abstract was titled, "Erionite Exposure in North Dakota is Comparable to That Found in Turkish Villages Which Experience a High Incidence of Mesothelioma."

The McClure family, who own Desert Valley Auto Parts, will be the main characters in Desert Car Kings as previously reported. The cable television series, which premiers tonight at 11 p.m. According to local time, follows the family as they flush, junkyards, backyards, and random sites for classical autos and rare car parts.
A Discovery Channel camera crew will be filming at the Five Star Auto Auction on Sunday, 22454 North 21st Avenue, when more than 250 rides, including a 1968 Dodge Charger and a 1950 Cadillac, are sold to dealers during the open-to-the-public event. The gates open at 7 a.m. for the auction that takes place from 8 a.m. to noon.
Ahna O Reilly has been linked romantically to James Franco for over five years now. Yet, people question if James Franco is gay.

Pakistani businessman and politician and the former Governor of the province of Punjab. He was a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and had also served as a minister in the caretaker cabinet of Prime Minister Muhammad Mian Soomro under Pervez Musharraf. Taseer was also the chairman and CEO of the First Capital and Worldcall Group. He was appointed to the post of governor on 15 May 2008 in place of outgoing governor, Lt Gen (R) Khalid Maqbool. by former President, Pervez Musharraf at the request of the PPP establishment.
He died on January 4, 2011 in Islamabad when he was shot in the chest and on neck by his own security guard and succumbed to his wounds.
Political Career:
Taseer started his political career in his student era, as a member of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the late 1960s. He was a part of the movement for Bhutto's freedom and opposed his arrest and death sentence. He also wrote a political biography on Bhutto titled Bhutto: A political biography (1980).
In the 1988 general elections, Taseer became a member of the Punjab Assembly from Lahore. In the 1990, 1993 and 1997 general elections, he ran as an MNA but lost.
In 2007, he was appointed the interim Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives.
On 15 May 2008, Taseer was designated for the office of Governor Punjab by the PPP-led coalition government.
Business career:
Taseer set up several chartered accountancy and management consultancy firms early in his career. In 1994 he established the First Capital Securities Corporation (FCSC), a full service brokerage house with equity participation by Smith Barney Inc USA and HG Asia Hong Kong.
Taseer founded the Worldcall group with a payphone network in 1995. The group has grown over the years to become a major private sector telecom operator with national and regional footprint. A majority stake in Worldcall was acquired by Omantel, Sultanate of Oman's incumbent operator, in 2008.
Taseer also owns an English news channel in Pakistan, Business Plus and the first kids channel, Wikkid Plus. He is also the publisher of the English language Daily Times.
Personal life:
Taseer was married to Aamna Taseer and the two resided in Lahore. They had six children; Maryam, Shehryar, Shahbaz, Sara, Sanam and Shehr Bano.
Taseer also has a son, Aatish Taseer (born 1980) with Indian journalist, Tavleen Singh. Married at the time, Taseer met Singh during a book promotion trip to India in the late 70s. Aatish is a freelance journalist in the UK and has recently written a book titled "Stranger to History: A Son’s Journey through Islamic Lands" on his estranged relationship with his father.
Taseer was known to be one of the trusted aides of Benazir Bhutto. He was a class fellow of Nawaz Sharif at Saint Anthony School, Lahore. He had obtained a degree in Chartered Accountancy from London.
Controversy:
In December 2010 as Punjab Governor, he departed the country without handing over charge to the speaker, this meant that the province was without a constitutional head, and it also rendered the assembly speaker ineligible to preside over the session. Leaving the province without informing his successor was in violation of the constitution and this lead to calls for his resignation. Evidence provided by ICAO on the governors' travel abroad, lead to a case being filed in court for breach of the constitution. Death:
Taseer was shot 9 times in a gun attack on 4 January, 2011 at Kohsar Market in Islamabad, a popular shopping and cafe spot among the wealthy. His attacker was one of his Elite Police bodyguards, Malik Mumtaz Qadri, who handed himself in immediately. Qadri said he killed Taseer due to the latter's vocal opposition to the Blasphemy Law, a controversial law that punishes anyone convicted of insulting Islam, to death. The law is often misused to discriminate against non-Muslims. Taseer succumbed to his injuries in the local hospital.
Rare "panda cow" born in Colorado miniature farm! With black and white body markings resembling those of a panda bear, a "panda cow" has joined a short list of about 24 miniature cows born with the same markings.
The rare miniature cow - a male named Ben - was born on New Year's Eve day in Colorado, Friday morning.
But Ben - named for the farmer's brother, also born on New Year's eve - will never be destined for someone's dinner plate. Owner Chris Jessen raises miniature animals for pets only.
The little guy may bring in well over $30,000 if he is ever offered for sale.
Ben "the panda cow" will join the other miniature cattle raised on Farmer Jessen's ranch, including a miniature kangaroo and mini donkeys!
