Ann Ward Wins Americas Top Model

Ann Ward has come a long way from her first appearance on America’s Next Top Model, causing controversy when judge Miss Jay Alexander revealed he could fit his hands around her tiny 15 inch waist.

We at Twirlit questioned whether or not the clip – which featured host Tyra Banks proclaiming her love for the super-thin contestant in an effort to promote this ‘Top Model’ cycle – was sending the wrong message to young children who watch the show and aspire to be models.

Tyra was even forced to make a statement to the press, after public outcry over the clip hit the airwaves.

“In an effort to create a fun and entertaining sneak peek of the upcoming cycle, America’s Next Top Model released a trailer that was edited in a way that misconstrued our overarching message,” Tyra said in a statement to PEOPLE Magazine.

However, Ann overcame the controversy and proved Wednesday night that she is America’s Next Top Model, winning a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl cosmetics and a spread in Italian Vogue. And you know what –she deserves it. Her photos were amazing!

“I’m so honored right now,” Ann said, after she was named the show’s winner. “All those comments about being tall and just not normal. They’re going to look back and feel, ‘I should have been so nice to that girl.’”
