Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan will recite the Gettysburg Address on Saturday during the 19th Click to read Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and learn more about the speech. National Archives annual Abe Lincoln Remembrance at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.
Students from Lincoln and Birmingham Community Charter high schools will participate in the event, which marks the birth of the nation’s 16th president. The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. and is free to attend. It will include music from Lincoln's era performed by the Backyard Band. Actress Gigi Perreau will emcee.
Speakers will include Lynette D. Parker, the cemetery’s director and Louis Perez from Homeboy Industries, said event organizer Duke Russell.
