Wake County Public Schools Bus Accident

A Wake County Public Schools bus struck several cars in a high school parking lot Tuesday morning after the bus driver became ill, authorities reported.

Emergency workers transported the driver, June Douglas, to Duke University Medical Center, said Tracey Barker of the Cary Police Department. Barker did not know her condition.

No other injuries were reported, said school spokesman Greg Thomas.

The accident occurred about 7 a.m. at Panther Creek High School on McCrimmon Parkway in Cary. Thomas said the bus was dropping off students at the school and that moments after the last students got off the bus, the driver "suffered a medical condition."

The bus accelerated forward and struck several parked, unoccupied vehicles, Thomas said.

Cary police are investigating the accident.
