Wyclef Jean: Hand Shot

Rapper Wyclef Jean is "undeterred" with his "commitment" to his native Haiti after he was shot in the hand in the country on Saturday night, March 19. The former The Fugees star's car reportedly came under attack and was peppered with bullets as he was being driven through the city of Port-au-Prince with hip-hop pal Busta Rhymes and record executive Jimmy Rosemond.

Jean's hand was injured in the incident and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was subsequently discharged from the facility and his spokeswoman Cindy Tanenbaum insists the star is still fully committed to his charity work in the country.

She tells E! Online, "I have confirmed from Wyclef that he was immediately taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze to his hand and released. He is fine. Wyclef's commitment to his native country and to his people is unparalleled. He is therefore undeterred by this incident."

Jean, who lives in the U.S., was in the country to lend his support to presidential candidate Michel Martelly as he prepared for the final round of elections against former First Lady Mirlande Manigat on Sunday, March 20. The star was himself a presidential hopeful, but was ruled ineligible to run for office in 2010.
